Professional Services engineers can isolate the vocal performance from a mono or stereo song. The vocal can then be refined and reused as needed, including the ability to create virtual duets. Once isolated, engineers can adjust vocal levels, dynamics, EQ, pitch, and pan position.
For a scene in film and television with a song playing in the background, a vocal level can be adjusted within the mix, allowing the dialogue to be clearly heard. Additionally, the vocal can be moved out of the center position, giving dialogue the acoustic space it requires.
Hans Zimmer, Inception
For the dream state transition scenes and the surround mixing in the Warner Brothers release, Inception, Hans Zimmer requested the isolated vocal of Edith Piaf and the isolated horn section from the 1960s recording of “Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien.” As this was an older recording, there was no multitrack. Audionamix was able to provide the legendary composer with the elements he needed for his audio masterpiece. The film received two Oscars© for Best Achievement in Sound Editing and Best Achievement in Sound Mixing.
Barbra Streisand / Elvis Presley, Love Me Tender
Audionamix had already worked with Barbra Streisand on her Release Me album, so when she wanted to sing a virtual duet with “The King”, her team turned to us again for a separated vocal of Elvis singing Love Me Tender. The track turned out beautifully and was included on her hit album, Partners.
Donna Summer, Love to Love You Donna
When Verve Music Group decided to put together an album of favorite Donna Summer tunes remixed by current artists, they quickly found that many of the must-have songs on their list did not have separate vocal stems. The Audionamix Professional Services team was able to extract vocals that were then used to create updated remixes for the new album.
